Punjab Chief Minister Bhagavant deer has appealed to the paddy farmers to follow the sowing, ie DSR technology. He says it is useful in preventing the fall of groundwater. At the same time, experts say the government will have to face some difficulties at this target. The deer says that his government has begun a variety of efforts for the benefit of the peasantry. Under these efforts, the state government has promoted the DSR technology of paddy cultivation. Under this, sowing under this project was launched on Thursday.

There are challenges before the government

During this Kariff season, his government is targeting to bring five lakh acres of land under DSR technology. DSR technology is considered a water storage technology. The Punjab government is facing a tough challenge to achieving the goal of growing paddy with a straight rice sowing system. The state government provides an incentive of Rs 1,500 per acre for farmers planted under DSR technology.

Farmers are hesitant for these reasons

Previously, farmers had survived by accepting the DSR in Punjab at a large level due to the low awareness of pest control strategies with the weather change and the DSR and the domain. DSR uses 15 to 20 percent less water than the traditional transfer system for paddy cultivation. In addition, it also takes less hard work. According to a media report, by 2024, a total of 2.53 lakh acres were cultivated under DSR. At the same time, by 2023, this figure was 1.7 lakh acres.

Rumors spread on social media

Rumors spread on social media created difficulties in recognizing DSR. Many such claims among the Malwa Regional farmers are completely unfounded, said an expert at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). In these claims, the wrong things went somewhere that the crops that were grown by the use of DSR technology were particularly influenced by fungal attacks.

Farmers get financial assistance

In 2022-23, under the DSR technology, the registration of farmers is found in the ‘Rice Sowing Promotion’ program in the ‘Direct Sowing Promotion’ program. In the first year, 35,836 farmers accepted it, while in 2023-24, this figure fell to 19,223. In 2024-25, there was a slight improvement, which increased to 24,454. In these three sessions, the government’s financial assistance is Rs.

The camps are organized by the government

Ludiana Chief Agricultural Officer Kurdeep Singh Johal said that India’s newspaper Times is organizing camps by the Agriculture Department. He said targets were set for districts. Ludhiana plans to use DSR technology on more than 20,000 acres of land. The use of DSR helps to recharge ground water during the monsoon. If farmers use DSR, there is no effect on paddy yield.
