Three artists with DisabilityOvarian A photographer, a wallpaper and a sculptorThey have turned their limits into an indescribable inspiration. Through their works, they show that art is not only seen: it is touched, it is heard, you live. With the inspiration of companies like Once the foundationOvarian Once Oh Art diversiaTheir races cross the walls and stigma.

Everything in the art is not a retina, pigment or frameing. There are unnecessary works to tremble. There are teachers who do not follow a line or a school, but an instinct born in the skin, memory or pain. Sergio de Luz, Kelly Rash and Caesar Delgado are three creators with disabilities They are not only demanding their place in the art world, but they have done so from a transformation practice: convert their bodies and biography into creative tools. Photography, posterity and sculpture are its mechanisms; Emotion, your language.

Sergio de Luz, Photographer in Physical Disorders
Jose Gonzalez

Sergio de Luz filmed photos around the world until a motorcycle drop changed his life and his body forever: his left hand was paralyzed and neurological pain became chronic. “There are times when the art is a form of survival”He says. But your use is not a case to win, but the internal change. One of his closest exhibitions, the life sentence, speaks precisely about that invisible pain, which can only be described by a bottle full of real drugs, withdrawal from daily consumption.

“Pindo how do I feel”

The impact becomes the central axis of his work far away. The same thing happens in Kelly Ruda, and he thought that the way the world is no longer equal to others. “I don’t paint like others because I don’t see others. I paint how I feel”He says rounding. His creative process, deep intuitive, was born from the inside: “How to write a novel already holding on your head, it changes when you work.”

Emotional Summary joins Delgado, he says that blindly, sculpture and sculpture is not just visual arts. He clearly states that “hands make up, eyes only think about. Creation is a tactile and mechanical process.” His sculpture is not thoughtful, he lives.

This is not about tags but credibility

Although Sergio’s business originated from business photo as a very artistic and personal dimension, Kelly became a major summary mural from the portrait of education, which is much linked to her body and her emotional experience. In the meantime, Caesar resists closed types: “If you plan what you fertilized, you are no longer disabled: you can”.

“If you have sensitive and intuition, you can make something unique”

Although their paths seem to be different, Three shares a conductive thread: the reliability above the technical fullness. Delgado clearly distinguishes the arts and crafts: “The craftsman searches for the app, the artist will find the meaning. Not all audiences are artists, or the disabled can not be all. Kelly agrees: “Accept your limits and energy. What can you do. Art is not a goal. This is the path that gives meaning to your life.”

Disability trigger, not as a limit

For many years, Sergio hid his hand in his shirt bag. I don’t want him to say “the poor thing that takes photos with one hand.” Only over time, he understood that the exhibitions were a seal, and that there may be disability speech, news and even material. Kelly lived it similarly: reading beautiful art without adaptations, painting without mirrors, and faced with the art world without interpretation. But after an accident, she made her blind for several months and her decision was clear: “If I redeem 1%, I will return to art with my full strength.”.

Caesar, who grew up with a wonderful brother of the map, no longer learned to shade with the newspaper. Remember how today is A creative described as “Kandinskiana”But he smiled when he thought he was keeping him inside. “We are crossed by thousands of impacts we don’t always recognize.”

Create without expecting anything but never let it go

Future artists with disabilities have a deep and real one in their advice. “Don’t expect anything. Do it because it fills yourself. Art is terrible, with or without the disabled.”Says Sergio. Kelly insists that we should not deny what one is, but we have to hug him: “The important thing is that even if you do not know whether you are going to live from it, follow the interest.” And Caesar concludes: “The soul and anyone who is interested, but you should also be honest: there are no shortcomings. You have to say something.”

Behind these individual processes, there are structures that can support the skills with vision. Fantasian Once, Sifu Foundation, Art Sown. Kelly won the Barcelona Science PARC competition in 2018, and again in 2019, he reached the national selection. Sergio received support to expose his closest works in contemporary art festivals and rounds. Caesar is part of the artist center Blind It has promoted projects at the Hurricane Museum that protects emotion from a professional view.

But the trio admit that the real admission is not only the artist’s position, but also the recognition of the value of the job. Caesar criticizes the wrong powers: ”There are works that are sold as blind, but they are implemented by the audience. It was negligent. You don’t need to make love or lie. ”

In the end, it is not the inability to combine these three creators, but not even art. It is a way of being in the world, transforming pain into language, the body is a tool and the emotion in the raw material. From its different trenches, They show that the unprecedented art can be terrified. Those shapes, colors or frames are not always planned: sometimes they are intuitive.

That is, as Kelly says, “You don’t have to paint as you see, but how do you feel”.
