Do you know that for new students from the rest of the world in Portuguese schools, there are classes dedicated to different languages and cultures? What makes the teacher a “good” teacher in these special situations? According to the principles of Professor Point Pedro Da Kunha, a good teacher, with curiosity and curiosity, triggers the taste of the knowledge of the students. But how do students apply to a classroom that students do not speak the tongue of the school? Interested in adequate teaching to overcome the linguistic barrier? The lust on learning can create false expectations, without confidence in each student’s abilities, without respect for their learning speed.
Imagine entry into a classroom with no traditional school manuals. Students, many from other countries, are ashamed and surprised, “How do you learn?” The initial surprise can become a challenge. Here, learning is like the use of rubber: it destroys, re -writing and is built throughout the process. Some are used fast, others take a little more time, but everyone recognizes the importance of mastering new skills in constantly changing reality. Students are staying and learning a little.
In the welcoming classes, diversity is not only linguistics but also cultural and emotional. Every student takes his own story, often marked by compulsory travel, and serious changes in life. These classes get us in different times until September, November, January, or April, and will become a partition space, where the nostalgia is softened in many languages.
The role of the author in this situation is more than teaching the Portuguese language; This is to create bridges between cultures, meditate on fears and doubts, creating an environment where every student feels valuable. In these classes, teachers adjust their teaching procedures to individual needs, promoting learning through programs and their skills. At the same time, they encourage open conversation, help students develop linguistic and social skills, preparing them for a social life in the host.
But is the Portuguese education system ready to cope with these realities? Law-designed reception classes, such as the Order-Law No. 139/2012, are integrated into projects such as the National School Victory Promotion Program, which have shown positive results. However, success is not only the laws or plans, but also the ability of each school, but each teacher according to the individuality of each student.
What these classes are eventually shown are that the inclusive education is possible, but it requires a vision that all students can learn regardless of their origins or their initial difficulties. What if more schools accept this reception model? We will not create a better and equal education system?
The success stories that leave these classes are proof that the challenge is worth it. Every student, in the beginning, tried to speak the Portuguese who struggled to come up with classes, now dominated his language and fully integrated in the school, not only for her own but also a success for the entire school community. With the right support, everyone can dream and achieve the success of education.
In the background, what these reception classes teach us is that there are no obstacles that can be crossed when they focus on teaching and focusing on the real needs of the students. After all, as Professor Point Pedro de Ororea Da Kunha said, a good teacher, curiosity, can report the lust for his students. If this discovery is involved in creating a new life in a new country, the impact is even deeper.
