Iran’s foreign minister said that negotiations with the United States would not be possible to change things. The movement occurs while Washington is waiting in response to its call to negotiate a new nuclear agreement.

This month, Tehran received a letter from US President Donald Trump, giving Iran two months to decide whether new negotiations will be introduced or more severe sanctions will be faced under Trump’s “maximum pressure” campaign.

Although the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khounai, refused to offer negotiations to consider her misguided, the Iranian Foreign Minister said on Thursday that Tehran would soon respond to the threats and opportunities of the message.

On Sunday, Arakchi added that Iran is not opposing the “stubborn” negotiations, but because of history and experience, adding that Washington needs to be calibrated by his policy before Tehran participated in the negotiations.

During his first term, Trump removed the United States from the 2015 agreement between Iran and the great authorities, which imposed strict borders on nuclear activities, in exchange for the reduction of sanctions.

After Trump withdrew in 2018 and regained sanctions, Iran violated and has greatly exceeded these borders to develop its nuclear program.

Arachi said: “In my opinion, the 2015 agreement cannot be revived in its current form. This will not be the subject of our interest because our nuclear situation has advanced significantly and we can no longer return to the previous circumstances.”

“The same can be said about sanctions on the other side. The 2015 nuclear agreement can be a base and a model for negotiations.”

Western powers accuse Iran of searching for nuclear weapons by enriching up to 60 %, above what they say they are justified by a civil program.

Tehran says that the development of its nuclear program has peaceful purposes and respects its obligations under international law.
