Meanwhile, the Indian Sugar and Bio Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) has released the latest figures on sugar production. Sugar production has reached 254.97 lakh tonnes by April 15 this year in the current 2024-25 session. Sugar production is currently underway in 38 plants across the country. This year, Isma hopes that about 35 million tonnes of sugar can be shifted to ethanol. Last year, 21.5 lakh tonnes of sugar was diversified. Progress in sugar recovery
Isma issued a statement that about 22 mills are still operating in Uttar Pradesh, of which 16 mills are Western Up. Where is Chinese production?
According to Isma, sugar production has begun in 122 plants in Uttar Pradesh, of which 100 plants are now working, and only 22 plants have been manufactured. As of April 15, 2025, 91.10 lakh tonnes of sugar was made here. In Maharashtra, another major Chinese -produced state, Chinese production has started with 200 plants, of which 199 season work is stopped and there is a plant in Pune. 80.76 lakh tonnes of sugar production was recorded in Maharashtra.
At the same time, sugar production work was carried out in 80 plants in Karnataka, and all the plants of the state were stopped in 6 months at the end of the season. During this period, a total of 40.40 lakh tonnes of sugar was produced. Speaking of Gujarat, Chinese manufacturing work is parked in 14 out of 15 plants and produced in a plant. 8.86 lakh tonnes of sugar production is recorded here.
Sugar production at 534 plants across the country
In addition, in Tamil Nadu, 16 of the 30 sugar mills have been shut down, and 14 are produced. As of April 15, 4.70 lakh tonnes of sugar is made here.
