The federal government ensures the purchase of the minimum support price (MSP) of the farmers, so farmers can get the right price for their hard work. In particular, the government continues to make efforts to achieve self -confidence in the production of pulses.

The central government has made an important decision on the purchase of Tur (Pigeon). The purchase of TUR in the major production states of TUR has now increased the speed. By 2024-25, the government has approved the purchase of Tur, Urath and legumes under the 100% Price Support Scheme (BSS) of the State Production. This action will be more beneficial to the farmers and the importation will be reduced.

Steps move towards self -lag

The Modi government has announced in the 2025 budget that the 100% TUR, Urath and legumes will be purchased for the next four years to achieve self-sufficiency by 2028-29.

State -wise purchases plans

During the 2024-25 seasons, Tour (Arhar) has been approved for the purchase of tour (Arhar) in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. In Karnataka, this purchase period has been extended to 90 days until May 1.

So far, a total of 2.46 lakh metric tonnes (pigeons) have been purchased in these states, which have benefited 1,71,569 farmers.

Procurement plan of agricultural commodities

The central government has also approved the purchase of grams, mustard and legumes under RMS 2025. This year, the total authorized gram is 27.99 lakh metric tonnes and mustard is 28.28 lakh metric tonnes, while the authorized size is 9.40 lakh metric tonnes.

Government commitment

The federal government has simplified the registration and process through the NAFED and NCCF’s ports for the benefit of farmers, so farmers can easily sell their crops in the MSP. Moreover, the government has appealed to the state governments to ensure that there is no purchase below the MSP from the farmers.
