Raju Shetty, president of Swapimani Shettkari Sangatan, opposed the proposed Shaktiheed highway on Saturday. He says it is attracted by his own interests. The Nagpur-Kova Shakti Expressway, which costs Rs 86,300 crore, is 810 km long, which crosses the 12 districts of Maharashtra. The Shaktiheed Highway has been in controversy for the past one year. According to farmers, this highway is a threat to their cultivation, which will lose millions.
Compensation is not enough for farmers
Shetty said, “About 27,000 acres of land will be acquired by 55,000 farmers to the highway. Compensation is not enough. Former Chief Minister Uttav Thackeray says that the amendments made of land acquisition, rehabilitation and rehabilitation in the government under the government weakened the rules made for the safety of the farmers in the formal compensation and transparency of the Rehabilitation Act 2013. Shetty said the Nagpur-Mumbai Samridhi Highway has been used in the midst of similar demonstrations.
Review of the Crop Insurance Scheme
He also criticized the central government’s Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme. Shetty said, ‘This is a scam to help private insurance companies. In the last five years, insurance companies have made a profit of Rs 50,000 crore in the entire country under the scheme. In Maharashtra alone, his profit is Rs 10,500 crore. He said that the refusal to waive agricultural loans on behalf of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajith Pawar was “less than treachery”. Shetty is currently visiting Marathwada and Vidarbha to highlight agricultural issues.
