Pope Francis left a legacy of the defense of the environment yet Death this Monday (21).

The inclusion of controlling climate change in the political agenda of the world leaders has always been a source of concern for Francis, which even resulted in criticism from the heads of state that deny this phenomenon.

During the seventy -fifth anniversary of the United Nations in September 2020, Francis said he was thinking a lot about “the dangerous situation in the Amazon and its indigenous peoples.”

“This reminds us that the environmental crisis is linked in a way that cannot be related to a social crisis and that environmental care requires an integrated approach to combating poverty and exclusion,” he added.

It continues during the speech: “This positive step is certain that the integrated environmental sensitivity and the desire to work has grown. You should not load future generations with the problems caused by previous problems.”

“We must seriously ask ourselves whether there is a political will to relieve the negative effects of climate change, as well as to help the poor and the most vulnerable, which are the most affected,” concluded Pontif.

During 12 years of his papal, Francis had a great moral impact on global issues, and often defending peace, justice and human rights. In addition, in many initiatives, it adopted a more progressive position on social and environmental issues, as it is remembered as a “Papa repair.”
