How we talked about recently Coca -Cola in Mexico is going to stop advertising in schools. How to Mexico from March 31, we had one of this week Prohibited selling garbage food in schools.

This is a great first step, but as one of our readers commented, “They will go across the street and buy an oxo instead.” Unfortunately, the reader is probably right.

I would like to make it clear that I have nothing to do with Oxzo. I am often the customer of their shops and I see that they are exceptionally comfortable. I think most of us will admit that quick snacks, drinks or shops will most likely come in handy Cold beer. In fact, I have seen some of the complex tendencies that worry about me.

Most of us know, Mexico has incredibly new fruits throughout the year. It is surprising to see fruit sellers on the departure Mexico city’s speech or de la reform In the center of the fund district, fresh cut mangoes, watermelon or coconut (sprayed with lime and chili).

At our office in San Miguel de Alende, I was attracted to two local women (walkers across the city) every morning to stop selling our office with new fruits. Mexican in our office always buys from her. For me, unfortunately, there is no same discipline.

Granola bars, sneakers bars and Oreo cookies – I have really bought big snacks for the office – often, I am the only person who eats them. Others of our group prefer fruit.

Street vendors who sell fresh fruits are more common in Mexico, and even office visits. (Honor of Travis Pemnec)

Another great tradition in Mexico is eating from many street vendors who sell local dishes such as Tamalees, Tortas, Posol and Tacos de Chanasta. When chatting with friends or colleagues you can eat hot, fresh, home -made meal – what can you hear more?

Another way I appreciate is drinking refreshment and health Fresh water – Fresh fruit water drinks, from Harchata to watermelon from lemon, all in between.

This brings me back to Oxzo. None of these amazing new local dishes are found in Oxzo. Local mother and Bob “mini-sappers” had a large mixture of these local dishes before Oxzo (and 7-Leven) shops were seized by the country. They are often refrigerated to keep fruits, tamalees or tacos hot, and the large 25 liter fruit juice containers you can buy So if Or glass.

Unfortunately, many of these stores have been expelled from business. Oxzo brings a completely different model with a hyper-talented distribution chain and is difficult to have this kind of products, due to the nature of their stories. Almost everything is in a glass, plastic or metal container. Almost nothing is new. Most foods and drinks are not considered healthy.

Reads a brown sign

But convenient, they are. In Tulum, my wife and I have traveled for many years, and we have seen a complete change in the food of local people who have been opened in almost every constituency over the past few years.

Approximately 100% new food (fruits, breads, tacos, meats, etc.) are often replaced by “Oxo Diet”. It is very common for construction workers, school children and others to eat oxo food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As a result, we also saw a significant increase in the obesity rate of the local people.

It is not surprising to Americans who have seen a similar event in the United States – there are “food deserts” in many cities, where there are less than new or healthy food options.

What seems to me differently about Mexico is that very affordable new food is very easy, as well as a rich, deep, long tradition and interacting with a healthy diet. Promoting this is precisely the motivation behind the video and article series, which we bring you the stories behind traditional Mexican dishes and materials. MaizeOvarian BeansOvarian Tomato.

Taste of Mexico: Qualians

The increase in chain -style restaurants in the rich areas of Mexico’s cities is a complex sign of “progress”. It is now very common to see Dangin donuts, milk queen, chrysbi cream and Tim Hardons chain shops everywhere. As for the lessons learned from the health issues in the United States, is it the perfect path for the growing Mexican population?

I have no answer to this universal problem, but I try to do what I can do in my own little way. For my own health and nutrition, I eat more new foods, but at the same time I do so to help you retain local sellers of my nearest new foods. I understand that this is an uphill war, but I think each of us should try to do our part.

Of course this does not mean that I will never go back to Oxzo, but I am trying to realize that the impact of many Oxyzes and what I can do is to do what I can do. A few weeks ago, my favorite local Tamale seller, who had been sold in the same corner near our home for many years, “Ya No S Neckosio” (“This is no longer a good business”) and suddenly stopped selling them. Probably unrelated, we always set her position from an Axiso block about a year ago. If such traditions are gone, they are not always likely to come back.
