The decision to stay

I was in the capital at the beginning of the war on a large scale; While many left the city, I made the decision to stay. “I knew that, in any case, not everyone would leave – remember – first and foremost the disabled or in certain circumstances of life. But above all, I knew that our army would stay and that they would need medical attention. Since I am a training doctor, I decided to stay in Kiev.

VikToria remembers his first service day in the war zone. He remembers it in an important expression: “In the eyes of death.” It was part of the resuscitation team. They were called to Bakhmut, which the Russians have not yet occupied, to attend a young man who was driving an ambulance, and with a paramedic on the plane, he suffered an accident because, as in the foreground, he had been forced to drive at a high speed. He was a foreigner arrived in Ukraine as a volunteer. Unfortunately, “the woman did,” the boy was seriously injured. As a recovery team, we tried everything to save his life. We fought for more than 30 minutes, more than the protocol requested, and did everything we could.
