This margin farmer of the village of Duttiyanwali has transformed the personal and economic destruction into a success story with his hard work and dedication. If the efforts are correct, he has proven that even a small land can provide a large income of Rs 6-7 lakh per acre.
Sometimes used to make tents
The life of Harbirid is always full of difficulties. A few years ago his older brother was murdered in a small controversy. After this, in the legal war, all the families of the family were over. He had to sell gold, livestock and land. According to a report by the Indian Express, Harbreet had to leave the school after 11th grade and had to work at Rs 600 a day. Despite the increasing number of money, the daily pressure of the rich and grocery shopkeepers did not abandon their money.
Borrowed cultivation
In 2017, at the age of 17, Harbreet or Happy Breeding Relationships by Daily Wages and Traditional Cultivation of Wheat and Paddy. After this, he tried to cultivate uniform vegetables on 1.3 acres. This is the only land that is not mortgaged. Despite his parents’ doubts, he borrowed Rs. 30,000 and cultivated pumpkin, zucchini, zucchini and peas. He won the gambling played by Harbreet. He earned Rs 6 lakh from these vegetables in 10 months and paid a loan of Rs 5 lakh.
This is the secret of success
2020 Locking stopped Harbreed’s progress. By the end of 2021, a friend gave them 0.75 acres of land free. By 2023, he had bought three acres of land. Harbreet joined his homemade house. In 2024, he went to a new home, including the family. According to Harbreed, he went here only after the season was grown.
According to Harbirid, when the green peas season in Punjab ends in November, he sows them in the subway. At the beginning of January, he begins to harvest it. At that time, prices in the market are very good. He has sold peas worth at least 2.20 lakhs of Rs 2.20 lakh. After completing an input cost of about Rs 50,000, only Harbreet Peas has earned Rs 1.70 lakh.
Harbrid then sows Gowbia’s advance crop in the same field, which is ready by March. At a rate of 80 to 100 rupees per kg, about 70-80 Quintal green Gowbia is sold, which earns a total of Rs 7-8 lakh. After costs, I make a profit of at least 4-5 lakh rupees. After harvesting the crop in May, he sows Gowbia again in the same field. Although the yield at this time is slightly low, the rates are relatively low, but they are still more profitable.
Chilli Ogra, Pumpkin Cultivation
In half of the remaining two acres, Harbreet raises wheat for his own food. The rest of the remaining, vegetables such as pumpkin, trumpet, zucchini, bitter chickpeas, capsicam, tomato, bitter and adshi chilli, slipper pumpkin and lady finger are grown. Harbreet says his vegetable period begins in November and will last two acres by the end of September.
In the remaining field, it ends in June based on the crop. In June, he sows the Basmati or PR -126 paddy on an acre, which he bites it early October. For the next two months, he relaxes the fields and prepare the nursery for the next vegetable cycle.
Harbreet grows most of his vegetables in off-cis, which provides them with premium prices. He says, ‘My mother lived in a house without a fan. Today they have an AC room. Harbreet has gained knowledge of vegetable agriculture by participating in many farmers exhibitions in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
