Minister of Agriculture and Panchayat Minister Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Prime Minister of Nepal, KP Sharma met Oli on Wednesday in Kathmandu. In addition, Shivraj Singh attended bilateral meetings with agriculture and Nepal and Bhutan’s livestock ministers. In addition, Shifraj Singh met with Pimsteck during the third BIMSTEC minister’s meeting of agriculture. During the meeting, Union Minister and Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli confirmed close and friendly relations between India and Nepal and discussed ways to further strengthen Indo-Nepal cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The two leaders hoped that the signed new Memorandum of Understanding would open a way to increase the cooperation between the two countries and its relevant areas in agriculture. Shivraj Singh reiterated India’s commitment to support Nepal in agriculture by setting up a fertilizer plant in Sidwan and a fertilizer plant in Nepal. Both sides were involved in market access issues.
Discussion on issues for mutual welfare
Indian Ambassador Shivraj Singh Chauhan presided over the bilateral meeting with Nepal and Bhutan. The Memorandum of Understanding will provide new speed to the ongoing cooperation in areas such as crop productivity, management, agricultural research and skill development, market trade access, agricultural trade and climate friendship and stable agriculture.
Negotiations on corporate cooperation in India-Nepal
Under the new Memorandum of Understanding, the two sides discussed the cooperation between the Joint Agricultural Task Force (Jat) and the Indian Agricultural Research Council (ICAR) and Nepal Agricultural Research (NARC). Both ministers reviewed the progress of India’s proposal to establish agricultural and industrial parks in Sidwan.
Ministers also reviewed the advancement of agricultural projects under the India’s High Again Social Development Program (HICDP) program in Nepal. Both sides also discussed the cooperation of the livestock sector and the cooperation of the company’s cooperation between the agricultural educational institutions of the two countries.
Bilateral meeting with Bhutan
Union Agriculture Minister Chauhan Leenbo Yundan Fantasho held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Bhutan’s Livestock, in which ministers reviewed bilateral cooperation in agriculture, livestock and related sectors. This included focusing on areas such as Irrigation Channels and Mega Farms. Ministers discussed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation between the two countries. Shivraj Singh emphasized India’s commitment to fulfill India’s relations with Bhutan. The Bhutanian party demanded the Indian side to increase the financial support for Bhutanian initiatives, indicating the lack of resources.
Shivraj Pimstek met the General Secretary
Shivraj Singh met with Pimsteck’s general secretary Indramani Pandey during the meeting of the third Pimstek minister of agriculture in Kathmandu and discussed the cooperation areas between India and the PIMSTEC forum in the field of agriculture. The Pimstech countries face shared challenges such as climate change, lack of resources and food safety and nutrition -related issues, which require regional cooperation and learning from each other. He said that the PIMSTEC countries should work together to successfully implement the PIMSTEC action program of 2023-2027 and that it was jointly accepted at the 5th Pimstech Summit in 2022.
