The delivery of the annual account for the year 2024 to the Independent National University of Mexico, in addition to a financial report, is an verified image of the scope and its profession as a public institution in the nation’s service. We do this with the complete conviction that this exercise constitutes an information and exchange platform between the state and public higher education institutions and Mexicans.

As a public, independent, secular and national university, our studies house holds a deep bond with the society that nourishes, challenges and supports it. We do this in a complex moment, where educational institutions – especially public universities – are subject to legitimate social demand. It is carefully observed and interrogated, but also of high value and defended as an indispensable commodity.

At the National University, we are clearly aware that the multiplicity of the voices of our society looks forward to excellent training. In this context, application is not an administrative procedure, but it is a response based on verified data, institutional behavior and responsibility.

The annual account that was presented today on March 31 was approved by the General Council of the H.

During the past year, UNAM served from 59 billion peso. 90.4 % of this amount came from federal support, which reflects the Mexican state’s commitment to public higher education and our mission to exercise these resources with absolute integrity. The rest corresponds to unusual income. This budget is arranged, as necessary, to achieve all objective functions:

With regard to teaching, about 48 % of the budget has been allocated according to about 266,000 students at 133 degrees, 42 specialized programs with 268 guidances and 42 graduate studies programs that make up 95 master’s and doctorate plans.

At high school, 14 % of the budget was appointed, with enrollment exceeding 107,000 students in three curricula. Such an investment is an increase of 9.3 % compared to 2023. In total, enrollment in the university reached 374,000, with an increase in peripheral efficiency and increasing participation in national and international academic exchanges.

In the research, about 26 % of the budget was allocated to strengthen the scientific ability of the university, and in the field of extension of the university and the spread of culture, 7.7 % of the total budget was allocated to enhance the cultural presence of the university inside and overcome its areas. Institutional administration has been appointed by 4.8 % of the total budget, which enhances the university’s commitment to effective and strengthening management and directed to the service of its community. The presentation of transparency is part of the essence of the work that our great university assumes with the society that is due to this. Behind every weight you exercise there is a face: from a young man who was getting a scholarship; An academy or academy, with rigor and enthusiasm, constitutes new generations; The researcher or researcher formulates relevant and innovative solutions to national and international problems; A community enriches its environment through common knowledge.

University education is a tangible impact on social movement and the quality of the life of thousands of families. More than 85 % of students come from homes with less than four lower wages, most of them are from the first university generation. In addition, a large percentage of food insecurity has faced and combined its studies with long business days or transportation operations.

Under this panorama, access to Unam does not only convert individual tracks. It contributes to reducing structural inequality and strengthening the social fabric. It serves this occasion to express, with clarity and condemnation, that general education requires greater resources and supported support.

The university’s future is deeply intertwined with the future of Mexico. Its continuous improvement is not only an academic necessity, but a strategic commitment to building a more achieved, free, sustainable and democratic country. Investing in public education is to enhance the basis of critical citizenship, the economy with a social meaning, the culture of dialogue and fairness that constitutes Mexico tomorrow.
