Empty blanks in diagnostic medical care, educational exclusion and lack of appropriate treatment for people with autism, are among other aspects, and the results of the #Mivenelespectro digital campaign: autism sounds.
This awareness strategy was aimed at clarifying the experiences, challenges and resources of people in the autistic spectrum and their families, through the comments published on social networks, from April 2 to May 8.
Therefore, analysis of 600 messages in different categories such as; Campaign coordinator, Antonio Rizul Kraudoba, the founding president of the Mexican Association of Pediatrics for Development and Behavior (SMDC).
“The educational exclusion is still a continuous structural barrier, and adds that there are no clear protocols and health -trained employees.
He said: “Emotional, legal and institutional support networks for care providers, especially mothers and grandmothers, are rare or not present. These numbers express high levels of corrosion and urgent need to accompany.”
In the event, which was attended by representatives of all health sector institutions, Gerardo Gaya, CEO of Illuminamos by autism, indicated that at least, on average, 2 % of the population in Mexico suffer from autism, so it is necessary to enable this society that faces tremendous challenges.
Therefore, sexual certificates on social networks, as they said, have become visible, which were invisible for many years.
“How do you see the panorama in a country where we do not have an early diagnosis from scratch to six years? We cannot reach the treatment public services. There are no integrated systems to accompany the family at any stage of life.
“There is no correct educational inclusion. There is no transition to adults and hardly have friends, so how can we expect dignity to have a job in this context?”

Given the active participation of civil society, and people with autism and their families in the #Mivenelespectro digital campaign, health sector authorities have committed their efforts to enhance the exercise and protection of their rights.
Daniel Asifis Felgran, Director General of the National Center for Children’s and Adolescents (INSP) will ask that a new question will be included in the National Health Survey 2025-2026, a new question is included for a number of people with autism living in Mexicio.
He added that the national health card “will be activated” will also be required to include aspects that help in early diagnosis and attention to autism spectrum disorder (tea).
“There is an additional question to determine the number of people in the autism spectrum. Today we have estimates and accounts, but there is no official information to understand its dimension,” he said.
It should be noted that in this event, Antonio Rizzoli Córdoba, a spokesman for the autistic spectrum issues in the participating agencies in the campaign, was officially appointed: Marta Margarita Zapata Tarrés, Chairman of the Coordination Committee at the National Health Institute and High Hospitals; Anna Kristina Artaga, Director General of the National Institute for the Science of Children’s Childbirth; Mercedes Makas, General Manager of the National Institute of Pediatrics; GERARDO PeñA Ordiers, Director of Services Department of the National Committee for Mental Health and Addiction (Conasama), and Nemer Naime S. Henkel, Coordinator of the IMSS Welfare Programs.
