With the harvest of rabi crops, farmers have landed in the fields for the cultivation of bamboo. Mung is an important crop of lentils. So, farmers grow it in March and Pratra. Although the cultivation of the bamboo is well earned, its cultivation improves the fertilizer of the soil. In such a situation, farmers cultivate it in many states. In the meantime, pulses are promoted in Haryana. For this purpose, the Agriculture Department and the Farmers’ Welfare are targeting the cultivation of summer bamboo over 1 lakh acres of 2025-26 seasons. Under this initiative, the department will provide 75 per cent subsidy to farmers of various districts.
These districts have received several acres of target
Kurukshetra, Bhivani, Palwal and Sirza have provided the highest number of 8,000 acres by the Haryana Agriculture Department, followed by 7,000 acres of Fatahabad, Jind and Revari. Colonel and Sonipat have provided 6,000 acres and Hissar 5,000 acres. Other districts have been targeted from 1,000 to 4,500 acres.

Farmers will be subsidized for seeds
An official of the Department of Agriculture emphasized the dual benefit of the initiative and that the bamboo cultivation enhances the health of the soil. In addition, Mong cultivation is a source of additional income for farmers. In such a situation, farmers interested in growing bamboo can register online from March 26 to April 20 on the sector’s website.
After the verification of the Haryana Seed Development Corporation (HSDC), eligible farmers will only get 25 per cent of the price of HSDC sales counters. The remaining 75 per cent will be provided by the department after checking the Deputy Directors (DDA). Farmers can buy up to 30 kg of seeds for agriculture on 3 acres.
“Mong cultivation can lead to many benefits”
Dr. Karam Chand, Deputy Director of Kurukshetra (DDA), highlighted the benefits of summer mong cultivation. He said, “This crop is good for soil fertility, which is a short -term crop, so farmers can take additional crop before sowing and paddy. Farmers can get 4 to 5 quintals per acre, and there is a high demand in the market of pulses.
Lentils will get an incentive in the state
He added that Kurukshetra has been given a target of 8,000 acres for the cultivation of the summer bamboo and that farmers will get a subsidy of 75 per cent of the seeds. However, he warned that the seeds would be taken, but the farmers who did not grow up should return the subsidy of 75 per cent. If they do not do so, they will be denied the benefits of the Agriculture Department for the next two crop sessions.
With this initiative, the Haryana government aims to improve the type of pulses, improve the fertility of the soil, and increase the additional income system between their primary crop cycles.
