The governor of Sao Paulo also put himself in a recent discussion between the American government and the Brazilian executive authority: the classification of criminal factions, such as the first leadership of the capital (CCP) and the red leadership (CV), as “terrorist organizations”.
“I think we must harden. Control of organized crime must treat criminal groups, as it is actually dealt with organized crime as a terrorist group,” he said. “If you do not increase the cost of the crime, we reduce our chances of obtaining effectiveness in this fight.”
On May 6, The Brazilian government told the United States not to classify CCP and CV as terrorist organizations.
In an interview last week with CNN, The National Security Secretary, Mario Sarubo, said that there is no “advantage” in changing Brazilian legislation and could be the American position “harmful” for Brazil.
