Sudan: The army advances, but the suffering does not give a truce

The army regained positions in Gardome, while attacking the Rapid Support Forces. The story of Adam and no Muhammad, a spokesman for the Sudanese refugee community in Italy: “There is a shortage of food, water and medicine”, but the weapons “that are pushing with Sudanese gold still arrive”

Giada Aquilaino – Vatican City

A fierce and bloody battle. This describes the confrontation of the last hours in Jartum between the Sudanese army and the Palmed Forces of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), as part of the war facing the forces of General Abdel Fata Al -Brahan from the forces of 2023, the militias run by General Mohamed Hamad Dagalo.

The Sudanese army announced that the presidential palace of the capital had recovered, which was in the hands of the paramilitary forces directly from the outbreak of the conflict, and RSF announced that it launched an attack in which dozens of soldiers had died. Three journalists of the Sudanese State TV died in violence. Another major building army, which is the headquarters of the central bank, was also announced.

Impact fields

Meanwhile, the army’s progress in Jartum is tackled by uniting the paramilitary forces in the West, where the Buran forces control more north and east and the paramilitary smell-which has repeatedly declared a parallel government in the areas under its influence in the western region in the Darfur region and in parts of the south, which announces division in the country.

“We do not accept a portion of Sudan, it will be a great suffering,” says Adam and Mohamed, a spokesman for the Sudanese refugee community in Italy.

“Recently, the paramilitary forces have established from RSF a small government, such as Sudanese and Charora, we do not realize. However, it is true that these militias are in the Darfur region: there was a strong attack on their part, with 700 cars and vehicles, in its money and Darfur Norte, the last city of the desert between Libya and Sudan. They slaughtered hundreds of civilians, but the Sudanese army managed to repel them. ”

Emergency throughout the country

Within two years of war operations-which exploded when the country tried to launch a hard transfer to a democratic government after Omar Al-Bashaer was deposited in 2019-the conflict detected tens of thousands of lives, in a narration that is difficult to define and verify due to deep insecurity.

More than 12 million internal displaced people and more than 3 million refugees in neighboring countries, especially in Chad, Egypt and South Sudan. The United Nations described those in Sudan as the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. About two million people are estimated at severe food insecurity: 320,000 hungry.

“You live so much. Me – the activist, who has been in Italy more than 20 years ago and is now a university student, a cultural mediator and a breeder at a family home for minors abroad who are not accompanied – I am already from El Genena, in West Darfur, on the border with Chad, and my mother is in a mass camp in Chad.

“The situation is inhuman, there is a lot of suffering. Even in Chad, a refugee camp was exposed a few days ago, as happened in the Zamzam field, in North Darfur, where food and water are missing: We know – it indicates that these militias do not even allow human aid, and therefore the situation is really terrible. Wise, children and women are in danger, medicines and care are also missing. ”

The two parties were accused of confrontation with war crimes, and RSF also from genocide. Both the army and the paramilitary forces deny the accusations, while weapons continue to reach the country, in a network of international alliances – analysts talk about Russia, Iran and the Arab countries – with both warring factions. “Even at some help, shipments were found, and there are documents that explain this,” the activist says.

Initially, these weapons, driven by Sudanese gold, arrived in Chad and from there they entered West Darfur, but they are now entering the South Sudan team. “

Do not let the attention of the international community decompose

In this context, the invitation of the Sudanese refugee community in Italy, above all, does not let the lights come out on their country. Pope Francis, also asked in the text that was prepared for Angelus last Sunday, to continue “prayer for peace” in Sudan.

“It is very important that international interest will not be degraded. Sudan was “closed” for thirty years when he was in power, but even at this point, unfortunately, there is no talk about it.
