It is clear that this new test in agriculture has begun to benefit the farmers.

Farmer trained from Mysore

The idea of cultivating sandalwood in Gujarat is 27, 27, people here are actively cultivating sandalwood. After graduation, Amandeep decided to cultivate the sandalwood. According to Amandeb, he wanted the idea of sandalwood cultivation and then decided to try it. Amandeep has been training from the Wood Science and Technology Institute of Wood Science and Technology (IWSD) experts in Mysore. After returning, he began to sow the seeds found in his nursery.

There are some special requirements of trees

Six to seven months later, Amandeep began cultivating sandalwood in the main field. According to Amandeep, 15-20 kg of wood can be sold from a tree. After the first year, plants do not need spraying of fertilizers or fungi, he said. However, there are some special requirements for sandalwood cultivation. This plant is a parasitic species, ie its nutrients from other plants. Therefore, farmers need to grow sandalwood and a host plant so that it can ensure its proper growth. Amandeb is the ‘Saru’ (Kasurina) as host plants and cultivates sandalwood trees in his field.

The income will begin after 12 years

Amandeep has started selling plants to other farmers, which helps them to plant their gardens. He said that these plants are now over six years old. After 12 years, sandalwood is income from the tree, as the sandalwood trees grow more and more. Sandalwood oil is used worldwide in cosmetics, drugs and some more products. Apart from sandalwood, Amandeep is growing fruit from the same land until he is ready to sell sandlwood trees.

Amandeb has grown 225 trees on two acres. If he sells each tree for Rs 1 lakh, he can earn about Rs 2 crore. According to Amandeep, his family leased the land. But instead of returning it, he decided to grow sandalwood. Like Amandeep, Maninder Singh from Mahru village in Patiala district has planted 100 sandalwood trees on half an acre. He has purchased these plants from the Punjab Forest Department in Hoshiarpur and Kurnal. Now these plants are almost four years old.

Punjab Forest Scheme

Maninder has planted Kasurina and Pine trees to meet the nutritional needs of the plants. Eight years later, the oil begins to form, he said. In Mohali, B.Tech graduate and senior employees said that after 15-20 years, the tree would produce Rs 5,000 to Rs 30,000 based on the quality of the sand tree.
