Under this, food and pharmaceutical laboratories are set up in all 18 sections of the state, of which new laboratories are being built at the headquarters of 12 zones. Of these, the construction of the new building in Lucknow, Kanpur, Saharanpur, Ayodhya, Aligarh and Gorakhpur has been completed, where testing work will begin by July.

The laboratory activity will start from July

Special Secretary of State Food Safety and Drug Administration, Rekha Singh Chauhan, said the laboratories are being set up at all 18 Divisional Headquarters of the state with a high technical capacity of food and drug testing. Under this initiative, on the one hand, the already established test laboratories are being done in the state with high technology, and on the other hand, new laboratories are being built in 12 zones.

Of these, the construction of the new building in Lucknow, Kanpur, Saharanpur, Ayodhya, Aligarh and Gorakhpur has been completed. With the installation of testing machines, the work of the Chapel test will begin in these laboratories from July. The establishment of a Food and Drug Model Test Laboratory in all sections of UP will increase the adulteration capacity of the state by manipulation and manifold. Compared to 36,000 in 2016-17, the sample test capacity of food products will rise by 300 per cent to 1,08,000 per year. In addition, the sample test capacity of the drug will increase by 450 percent. This will increase from 12,000 to 54,500 tests per year.

Controlling adulteration and fake products

Installing new laboratories on the one hand will increase the state’s test capacity, and make it possible to perform a fast and accurate analysis at the local level.
