The Indian Agricultural Research Council (ICAR) has recommended the release of a wide variety of fodder crops. This type has been created by scientists of the Birza Agricultural University (BAU) in Ranchi. This is confirmed in a statement issued by the BAU. It is said that fodder is resistant to the disease and is nutritious to animals. According to BAU, the new type has been developed under the All India Integrated Research Program (AICRP).
More than traditional types
The university has said that this type has been published to the northeastern region of the country and the Central Region. The average green forage yield of this type (GFY) is 190 quintals per hectare. This is 6.3 percent higher than the National Check Type Mahdora’s yield. This type is moderately resistant to the burning of leaf in the northeastern region. At the same time, Jharkhand is suitable for timely sowing, public fertility and irrigation conditions.
Source protein is also high
According to BAU, the raw protein percentage of this type is 4 to 5 percent higher than the national check type. It produces 8.3 quintal seed per hectare, which is 15 percent better than the check type. BAU scientists Dr. Yogendra Prasad and Dr. Perendra Kumar have been working on this type of development for the past decade. Two scientists participated in the Annual Committee meeting of the AICRP (Network) Annual Committee of Fodder Crops at Krishi Vijian University in Dharwad, Karnataka on April 22-23. It is recommended to release the Birza Latiraz -1 type here.
The major shortage of fodder in the country
About 100 scientists from all over the country participated in the meeting. He also reviewed the feeding research program. BAU said in its statement, “The shortage of green feed is 11.24 per cent and this decline in Jharkhand is 46 per cent. The state is about 23 percent of the lack of drought fodder. During the project, scientists have been congratulated for their achievement.
