A “Digital City” data center and a fertilizer plant are part of the newly declared $ 3.7 billion investment in the northern state of Durango by the Mexican technology company Grubo Fermaka.
At a press conference on Thursday morning of President Claudia ShinbamI believe this is a part of Sheinbom Plan MexicoIt seeks to transform Mexico into the world’s 10th largest economy.
It will take three to four years to complete the two projects, the announcement said.
Fermaka Digital City
With an investment of $ 2.7 billion, Fermaka Digital City will cover a hypercale data center with the ability to generate its own electricity. This feature has a capacity of 250 MW, which will make it a great convenience in Latin America.
The data center located in the city of Durango will serve to save their e-commerce data and files for large national and international corporations in the digital sector. Companies that benefit from this feature include Amazon, Netflix and Home Depot.
To create a data center, four projects will create more than 3,500 jobs simultaneously:
- A gas pipeline from Texas to Durango to increase the availability of gas for the industry.
- From the northern border to Quardaro, with branches up to Durango and Quadalajara, more than 190 long -distance dark fiber in underground sorting. Fiber Optical Cable will combine digital functional centers in Mexico with the United States.
- Integrated-cucumber plant with a capacity of 350 MW to create energy for the data center.
- A 160 km long gas pipeline from Texas has been set up to supply natural gas to the integrated-cunning plant.
Calvillo said construction is to be launched in the coming weeks of the data center.
Fertilizer plant
The second investment of Ferma’s Fermochem Nitrogen fertilizer plant in Lardo Municipality.
The plant is expected to produce 600,000 tonnes of urea fertilizer per year, supporting national fertilizer production and Mexico’s food self -sufficiency. This output will fill the 1.5 million tonnes already produced by Bemex.
Currently, Mexico imports 80% to 90% of fertilizers, which are at higher prices for farmers, Calvillo noted. Along with the gas pipeline project, the company is trying to remove intermediaries and provide competitive prices to farmers.
“With a strong commitment to sophisticated technology and environmental protection, this plant will create quality fertilizer in Mexico to change imports,” Calvillo noted that.
