Great news has come to Odisha’s paddy farmers. The state government has issued a foreign country to launch a process of procurement of paddy on MSP in 20 districts in 20 districts. The government is targeting the purchase of 14 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) paddy during the current rabbi season. Officials provided this information on Saturday. The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Level Procurement Committee on Friday, chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja. The collector of 20 districts also attended the meeting through video conferencing. Like the Carif season, Ahuja said that within 48 hours of paddy procurement, Rs 2,300 for a Queest as MSP and Rs 800 for input assistance would be transferred to the farmer’s account.
Paddy runs until June 30
At the same time, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Food Products and Consumer Welfare Department at the meeting, described the outline of problems for debate. Sanjay Kumar Singh said about 73.45 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased from about 16.60 lakh farmers in the last karif season. The minimum support price for the farmers (MSP) is Rs 16,853 crore and Rs. Similarly, the purchase of paddy for the current rabbi season will continue from May 1 to June 30.
3.37 lakh farmers registered
The official said that the target of buying 14 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the current season was set up. About 3.37 lakh farmers have registered for the purchase of rabi paddy. This year, the newly added Kandhamal, Sundarkar and Badrak will be purchased in 20 districts, the official said. A total of 965 Principal Agricultural Cooperative and 200 Self -Help Groups participated in the exercise. The Chief Secretary has ordered the relevant colleagues to ensure that eligible farmers should not lose paddy purchasing.
