The new rules were created in the CFM technology room, which was attended by surgeons and former presidents of the Brazilian Association for obesity and metabolic surgery (SBCBM) -DR. What are the changes?
The new standard maintains the same criteria for obese surgery patients with a body mass index (IMC) Above 40, whether or not, and patients with a body mass index above 35 and less than 40 with associated diseases.
Modernity revolves around IMC patients between 30 and 35, who are eligible for surgery as long as they have type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease with an injury in the targeted organs, chronic disease early due to type 2 diabetes, severe sleep interruption, non -alcoholic fatty diseases with fibrosis, transmission, and air opposition. It was also required that the patient be accompanied by an endocrinologist for more than two years, after they provided proposed treatments.
The new CFM resolution is not restricted to age or setting time with type 2 diabetes.

Teenagers over the age of 14 will be surgery to treat obesity
There is another important change in the decision related to adolescents who are qualified for obesity surgery. Previously, patients under the age of 16 can conduct the procedure unless it is performed as experimental and according to CEP/CONP standards.
Now, patients between the ages of 14 and who have more than 40 body mass index associated with clinical complications can perform surgery. However, the evaluation of a multidisciplinary team and the approval of officials is still required.
In addition, adolescents between the ages of 16 and 18 can now reach adults that have been set for adults now, provided that officials and the medical team agree with the procedure.
“The new CFM accuracy is the water gatherings, because it responds directly to the desires of the population that coexists with acute obesity and multiple associated polisions. Plasmatology is increasingly recognized as more effective, durable and costly effective in controlling obesity and its metabolic complications.
