The criminals attacked a branch of Kaxa Econimica, in my volumet, south of Minas Gerais, at dawn on Tuesday (8). The form of work has been known since the late 1990s in the country, as “New Cangaço”.
These attacks are classified as “new Cangaço” It is practiced by groups of criminals surrounding the city, at night or dawn, usually in the interior of the state, and the amounts of money are stolen.
For a professor at Getúlio Vargas (FGV), Alcadipani, and a public security specialist, the term refers to “procedures in which there is an attempt to control an entire city for criminals to try to extract large folders from bank branches.”
These interventions in cities are violent, where groups prevent the work of the region’s government by planning and carrying out robbery that causes Real social terror in small cities.
The attack in Guaxupé
The attack began at about 1:45 am on Dr. Joao Carlos Avenue, in the city center. The criminals were armed and fired several gunshots, as well as the use of explosives in the Kaxa branch, and the invasion of the scene.
At the same time to attack the bank, another group, armed, was launched in the military police barracks building and the city’s municipal guard base.
Through social networks, The population informed terrorism. One of the residents wrote: “Guaxupé was attacked by these seat theft gangs. What a terrible night! They woke up to the entire city with shots and explosions.”
The prime minister’s agent who was inside the barracks was injured in his hand due to shrapnel. About five vehicles were used in criminal work.
To date, there is no confirmation about whether thieves have been able to steal any value.
In a statement, the federal police said they had sent teams to the city to investigate the events, which included a Caixa Econôica Federral agency, with the support of the civil police and the military police.
