Five months after saying Celebrity Mexican music glorifying crime, violence and misconception, President Claudia Shenbam started a singing competition this week, aimed at doing it.
Set aside the “American Idol”. Mexico Canta, a crying music competition, comes here, while facing social challenges such as drug and violence.
Part Shinbam administration’s plan is Mexico, This effort is trying to promote traditional Mexican music – like Caritos, Mariachi and Ranjerra – Without a song that glorify violence and/or drugs.
Another purpose is to bring the components of the US music industry to Mexico.
The full name of the project is Mexico Canta (Songs of Mexico): Anti -peace and addiction, and it is open to artists and composers from Mexico and the United States between the ages of 18 to 34.
The registration will begin by April 28 and May 30, and then a Mexican Music Council will elect 10 competitors from each of the Mexican state and 15 competitors from all three US regions (western, central and eastern).
Through live performances in cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles, Dijuana and Oksaka, those 365 contestants will be marked as 48 final contestants – eight from eight and three Mexico regions from each American regions: North, South and Central.
The Grand Finals are set up in Durango, northwestern state for Oct. 5.
During his Monday morning, during a press conference, Shinebam said that the competition is aimed at helping young people to create identities associated with art, culture, sports, educational and employment, not through the music of violence and crime.

“We change them by giving you the reality of young people … a different story,” Sheinbam said in a statement to a Cultural Ministry. “I have always said about the misconception that joining a criminal group is a life choice: this is not a life choice. It’s a death choice.”
Sheinbam said that the song and music competition, which is broadcast in the public media in Mexico, includes the United States for two reasons, one of which is “improving Mexican music on both sides of the border.”
The other is an economic ship Mexico Project: “Bringing a portion of the creative sector in the United States to our country… (Music industry) creates many jobs in the United States – and we want most of it to come to our country.”
Competition participants are called to express traditional varieties such as Mariachi, Nordo, Banda and Polero or to explore contemporary Mexican connections with Rob, Rock, Bob and Hop. Submissions are encouraged in native languages.
Registration will open at the end of this month Mexicocanta.gob.mx.
The composers must submit the original three -minute song, while the artists can submit a three -minute part of any song that matches the competition’s profile.
