A businessman says he is trading 250 tonnes of lemon daily. But this year’s need has somehow diminished, but the crop is fine.

Due to inadequate rail transport in the area, lemon manufacturers cannot send their products to other states. If farmers want to take lemon to states like Maharashtra, they must first go to the drunelvali, 90 km away from here, and then one must catch the train. Therefore, it is necessary for the government to provide a train connection to the nearby Tenkasi and Senkottai. He said that the farmers of Puliyankudi said they were still stuck when their products were best. Farmers have demanded the support of state and central governments for processing units, savings and better transport.
