This week, we have been affected by the surprise news that its first restaurant will open in Mexico in 2026. Social media immediately flooded with a variety of reactions:
- “Not the first Mexican in Chipot?”
- “It will fail like Daco Bell done.”
- “This is my highlight for 2025.”
- “If you think about it, I got diarrhea.”

One day, my fellow Mexican people in Chipot were provoking strong nationalist sentiments. Since I felt eagerly about engaging in online debates – okay, they usually end in arguments – but at this time, I wanted to find a quiet middle land in the war, and I changed my inner Gandhi, and argued for peace by presenting many points:
Dex-Mex, not Mex in Chipot
If you are reading this article, your knowledge and love for Mexico will surpass some of the Mexican people. Like any country, you understand that Mexico’s cuisine is incredibly different. Food writers in MNT are diligently working diligently to explain that Mexican Castronami is a rich mosaic every week, not just tacos with Salsa.
The chipota is the tex-men, which is a feature of the aforementioned mosaic. Dex-Mex foods have a spectacular and unique history, reflecting the rich cultural combination of the Mexico-Internet States border. It combines with sweet corn, flour, turmeric cheese and high quality dexan beef with elements such as meat, beans, tortillas and silis.
Tex-Mex is not the worst hue of the Mexican cuisine; On the contrary, it is a unique combination of flavors and traditions.
In fact, the chain refers to itself as “fast normal” because it uses fresh and organic materials instead of frozen food. But it is not the restaurant of Pujol, Quinton, Rosetta or any other Michelin guide. Its goal is not to provide a valuable emotional experience on each bite or give a turn of our ancestors recipes; It aims to provide delicious food at reasonable prices.
Not your neighborhood in chipot Fonda/Taco stand
I can confidently say that I am not intended to “compete” with taco stands or our cherished local phonas in Chipot. I see Chipotel’s restaurant operator in Alcia, Mexico.
Alcia, Baso Chin Huarech
This phrase can be translated as “not to take a step without alcia, sandals.” This is carefully captured by the essence of planning.
The largest restaurant in Latin America and Europe and Cafe operator Alcia. As of 2023, it operates a total of 4,622 seats worldwide, 2,313 people in Mexico. These include 820 Starbucks, 798 Domino’s pizzas and 425 Burger Kings across Mexico. Those interesting numbers are a testament to their deep understanding of the Mexican market and the ability to change foreign brands.
Many years ago, I was eager to buy a Starbucks ownership. Prior to this, you should first conduct market inspection to ensure that the investment is not dangerous, as if you are investing millions of people to install a starbucks in your kitchen, like some sort of Richie rich. Surprisingly, my kitchen did not pass that study.
So, I have no evidence, but I have a zero doubt that a lot of research has gone to the conclusion of bringing the restaurant to Mexico in the first chippot. Because of this, it is difficult to believe that it will fail as Daco Bell did.
Is this the biggest success?
I hope to wait a long time in the first few weeks, but if the initial excitement is faded, the chippot will settle in the regular customers’ standard flow, which is like walking with Sheikh Sheikh.
To achieve this, they will adjust the prices for the Mexican market and combine seasonal local variations in the menu. For example, Starbucks sells Rosca de Rais pastries during the Christmas season.

They – in order to ensure early success – are very strategic about cities and even in the right streets, they will choose their first restaurant seats. Their marketing efforts would be impossible to sin.
Do Mexican customers like this?
I am not guessing. I think many ideas on social media have the right points: even in the “fast -paced” field, we already have rich, reliable and affordable food options.
Even with inevitable price changes, I cannot imagine the average Mexican happy with 150 pesos or a burrito bowl for a child-sized burrito, especially when receiving a full meal-especially when a starter, soup, enterter, sweet and drink, for-150 pizzos (CDMX prices).
Consider that when a street seller offers it just 40, buy a large cassatila from Chipotel for about 100 pesos.
My guess is that for the people of Mexican, eating in chipot I don’t want it anything (I don’t want it to be nothing) Reaction to the menu in the chippot.
Speaks personally
Let me clarify that I like food – if the stones are eaten, I will eat them. I see the joy of eating – almost anything: Street Tacos, McDonald, a Fondida Prix Fixe menu, the best food, a simple apple.
However, from a few times I eaten in the chippot, I do not remember that this is a place where I dreamed of when it was starving during a shopping spree in San Antonio. I don’t imagine I stand in line for a carnidas bowl.
But here I will try to prove my theory that it will taste better in Mexico than American soil.
So, who do you think the target visitors of the chipotel are, where you are in the first chippot Are there a restaurant in Mexico? As for our cooking environment, will you go to Chipotle regularly? I would like to know your thoughts in ideas.
