It also helps in environmental protection. Previously, the trend of sea algae cultivation was very low, and now people accept it faster. Experts must believe that raising marine algae can help bring an important change to both economics and the environment. According to Grinein George George, ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CMFRI), the demand for marine algae has risen worldwide.

Also, according to research, it is very beneficial. Therefore, the cultivation of sea algae is becoming an attractive business. With the help of the new technology developed by the company, coastal farmers have registered a yield increase in algae cultivation, and income has improved.

The manufacturers’ income increased from ITMA

To promote marine algae cultivation, the CMFR has developed an integrated multipic aquarium (IMDA) computer technology. With the help of this technology, farmers have seen improvement in the yield and income of marine algae. Due to technology, the cultivation of marine algae in the coastal areas has become even more popular.

India is ready for seaweed business

In 2022, George said the global trade of marine algae was $ 16.5 billion, so there is enormous possibilities in the region and there is its comprehensive coast in India. India is strategically ready to use it.

According to the Institute, IDMA is a new system, thereby related to sea cage cultivation. As far as coastal farmers are concerned, raising creatures like Copabayas has become a major income. Of these, yields have increased from the integrated agricultural system.

Fishermen get income option

George said the seaweed was ‘blue gold’, offering its a second permanent option for people involved in traditional fishing. The pressure on the marine environment can also be reduced due to a decrease in fishing or closure.

He said local shareholders/fishermen could be empowered by promoting fisheries manufacturing companies in the area. Because of this, their products can get the best market access and its proper price. Sea algae are used in various industries, including food, beauty products and medicines.
