The Food Ministry has decided to improve the infrastructure of the warehouses. In fact, Union Food Minister Brahlat Joshi said on Tuesday that the government would invest around Rs 1,280 crore to improve the infrastructure of the FCI and the Central Storage Corporation’s warehouses. Brahlat Joshi said the government is using the latest techniques to improve transparency in the Public Distribution System (BTS), and that it is the full purpose of providing quality food grains to more than 80 crore people through ration shops under the National Food Security Act.
There are 2,278 warehouses in the country
Speaking at a conference, Union Food Minister Joshi said the country currently has 2,278 warehouses, including owned and rental warehouses. He said the Food Corporation (FCI) would invest Rs 1,000 crore and CWC Rs 280 crore to improve the infrastructure of its warehouses.

This will help both FCI and CWC reduce the shortage of different levels, ”said Brahlot Joshi. Joshi said that the center would invest in the warehouses to improve technology and infrastructure. He said the government is fully prepared for storing and distributing food grains during any emergency.
Introduced three mobile apps
Joshi said that the government’s codes contain enough rice and wheat and food inflation is under control. The Food Minister said the government is increasing its savings skills across the country. The Ministry of Co -operative is preparing 700 lakh tonnes of savings with an investment of over one lakh crores, he said. Joshi has also introduced three mobile applications – Depot Mirrors, Food Friends and Food Help to upgrade BTS. Joshi said these three applications would help prevent leaks and reduce waste. The government’s Nodal Agency FCI only takes 420 lakh tonnes of food grains to buy and distribute food grains.
