Haryana: Changes in tender policy relief for transporters and wheat lifting problems will be overcome

Mantis’s transporters in Haryana have got a great relief. Here the Mandi Transport Contractors (MTC) and Mandi Mastur Contractors (MLC) opposed the MTC-MLC tender policy for 2025-26, after which the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has changed the key conditions by relieving contractors. With these changes, contractors are now included in the registration process to handle and carry wheat.

What changes in tender policy?

According to the revised policy, the percentage of the owner of wheat lifting trucks must be at least 30%. Contractors who do not meet this number, now have to deposit more than Rs. 60,000 per small truck, which is less than Rs. Of this, Rs 85,000 will be refunded and Rs. Also, the lifting period of the wheat has increased from the previous 48 hours to 72 hours. However, the fines for the delay will be Rs.500 per day.

Previous policy and change

By 2024-25, the amount of security deposits for a truck was Rs. 50,000, which is completely returned. But in the draft policy 2025-26, the security deposit was raised to Rs. After the opposition of contractors, it was amended to Rs 1 lakh. Despite this, contractors refused to find it as practical.

Resistance and settlement of contractors

The contractors met with their concerns in front of Chief Minister Nib Singh Saini in Chandigarh. Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, department officials were discussed and the demands of contractors were resolved.

Transport contractor Ashok Khurana said, “Most of our demands have been accepted, so now we have joined the registration process to handle wheat and lift.”

Progress in the process of registration

After the amendment, TFSC Anil Kumar examined that the contractors had resumed the registration of wheat and handling wheat. The purchase of wheat will start from April 1 and all the necessary arrangements have been completed. Anil Kumar said, “We will ensure that the wheat crop is smooth and raised.”

After this new change, there will be no barriers to the registration process to handle and carry wheat to contractors, and it is expected to buy wheat easily and without any problems.
