The wheat harvest period has begun in Himachal Pradesh and the state’s civil supply corporation has launched two wheat collection centers in UNA district. But for these two centers, the gravity of the farmers is zero. Every year in the state, farmers cultivate wheat in about 60,000 hectares. So far, only 1,530 quintal wheat has been purchased from the farmers in Una.
One million tons of production every year
According to a local media report, these two procurement centers are located in the village of Ambu sub -division and in the village of Rampur of the UNA. Officials hoped that these centers would be successful in buying most of the district crop. UNA APMC Secretary Bhupinder Singh has confirmed the total purchase data. In Himachal Pradesh, Una is called a ‘grain bowl’. The district produces about one lakh quartles annually in the district.
Why do farmers turn their face
This year, the minimum support price on wheat (MSP) on wheat has been fixed at Rs 2,425 per Quantile by the State Government. However, private traders take wheat and go home to go home. Because of this, these traders have become a favorite option for many farmers. Farmers have also pointed to this. Bachchan Singh, a farmer from Ransari village, said that private traders are offering more MSPs than the MSP and buying produce directly from the fields. Because of this, both hard work and cost are declining. He said that there is no need to carry grains or take complex procedures.
The Government Center became ‘problem’
Another farmer highlighted the barriers to selling wheat at government centers. According to the farmer, one must first register in mobile use and then wait for his method. After this, the products must be taken on its own. Then 2 to 3 percent of grains are wasted while cleaning. The company only pays for cleaned wheat, which reduces revenue.
The payment is done immediately
According to farmers, private traders do not demand or delay the fee. Usually they pay money and do it immediately. ABMC Secretary Bhupinder Singh said the purpose of government procurement centers is to help those who cannot reach the open market. But in the end it is important for farmers to get the right price, even if they sell it everywhere.
