The Amaankwakrom’s sanctification health center provides the Apostle Deputy Donkorkrom in Ghana, and supports health services for the poor, attackers and marginalized. The center, which is run by missionary sisters in the MSHR, is often a salvation for many residents of the region and not only, because they have a security that receives high quality medical care and know that they will always attend, may pay or not pay.

Amaankwakrom, as in the rest of the AFFRAM plains, suffers from high poverty rates. Many patients die at home because they cannot afford the costs of specialized hospitals for care. Some pregnant women prefer birth at home for fear of medical expenses, many of which are transferred to the Moto Health Center, which is the main transportation method, for complications. Because of the small road network, some prefer not to be at risk of adventure across the road in a bad condition so that their children, or even their lives, do not lose their lives.

The population also suffers from water shortages, and they only have wells to meet the demands of a large community like Amaankwakrom. There were no health services available in the region, which created serious health and environmental problems. There is not even a market in Amankwakrom and residents should travel about 11.2 km to the other city, Donkorkrom.

In 2020, the construction of a new block of outpatient clinics, with pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, injection department and male department, represents a remarkable development. Three years later, the Ministry of Motherhood was opened, along with health services. These changes have strengthened the commitment to improve health services. The health center went from two workers in 2016 to 42, out of 3 midwives. On average, 105 patients visit the center per week, with about 25 patients using the motherhood department. All developments were possible thanks to the tireless efforts of the religious, in cooperation with the donors.

Local leaders are not excluded. Although they do not have a way to keep the sisters economically, they express joy and contentment of what their community has become, thanks to the missionary effort. “Although we are poor, the leaders are always with us. Let’s do what we do, they will tell us to contact them. When we invite them, they bring their people to come and work together,” Mr. Nkishi admitted. Medical insurance was ranked with the responsible center very useful as well. “The health center is largely alive thanks to divine care and we return in good faith,” said sister, Nikichi. Sister Varine said: “If we stay loyal to the faith that we start in Amaankwa, we will never lack anything.”
