90 % of families depend on horticulture

Bashir Ahmed Bashir, president of the New Kashmir Fruit Association, said that ninety percent of the valley was a small farmer. The price of their entire house depends on the income of their gardens. In such a situation, due to the lack of insurance or compensation, these families must withstand the full load of nature’s explosion. The union is demanding compensation

The Fruit Manufacturers Association has called for the administration to ensure that the crop insurance scheme for the horticulture in the valley is initially implemented. The Sher-e-Kashmir Agricultural Science and Technology University (Skehwast-K), the Horticulture Department and Horticulture Program and Marketing Groups have been sent to assess the damage caused by the storm.
