The Bihar State Electricity Regulatory Authority has announced a change in the state in the state from April 1. With this, farmers and electricity consumers are going to provide great relief. In particular, consumers who now install smart prepaid meters have to spend less than 25 paise per unit. At the same time, electric rates for rural consumers have been reduced by 54 paise per unit, which will reduce their costs.
Will benefit farmers
If you have installed smart prepaid meters, you are going to get great relief. Within six months of installing smart prepaid meters, there will be no fines for consuming more than loads. In addition, if you live in rural areas and install smart prepaid meters, you will get the benefit of 79 bice of electricity consumption. This action will prove to be very beneficial to the farmers, as this will reduce their electricity costs, especially farmers who grow paddy.

Relief will be provided from new rates
In Bihar, domestic electricity rates have been transferred to consumers in rural areas. There are now two layers of rural areas. Consumers who are over 50 units of electricity consumption will receive a 54 paise discount per unit. At the same time, consumers who install smart prepaid meters will receive 25 paise additional relief per unit, which will make their total profit 79 paise per unit.

Relief for industrial units
Electricity companies have proposed to increase the electricity rates for industrial units that are not accepted by the Bihar State Electricity Regulatory Authority. In addition, if industrial consumers make digital allowances, they can get a percentage or a discount of up to 50 thousand rupees.
New relief to the agricultural sector
The agricultural sector is going to benefit from these new power rates. In particular, a new type of cold storage has been created. The Cold Saving LT-IS section, which is now demanding contracts up to 74 kilowatts. In addition, a new type of HD has been created for cold storage, including 50 kV to 1500 KVA. This decision will improve the storage of agricultural commodities and the farmers will benefit.
New Rates must be implemented from April 1
According to new rates, the following changes will take place:
- Cottage torch (0-50 unit) per unit of 7.42
- More than 50 units (rural areas) per unit of Rs.7.42
- 1-100 units per unit (urban domestic) Rs. 7.42
- More than 100 units (urban domestic) per unit of Rs. 8.95
These new rates will be in effect until March 31, 2026, which will provide relief to power consumers in the entire state.
