This Thursday (17) The traditional Fogaréu procession occurs, one of the events that is part of the Catholic Calendar for the Holy Week. The celebration remembers the arrest of Jesus Christ by the Romanian soldiers. In Brazil, the most prominent city of Serenha, in the interior of Bahia and Joyce.
The celebration was presented in Brazil in 1745 by Spanish priest Joao Peristo de Vasconus Spendo. Initially, only men shared, women can participate today as well.
The procession reproduces the last moments of Christ before the crucifixion, as Jesus was arrested by the Romanian soldiers on the Mount of Olives, according to Christian traditions. Along the way, the participants sing descriptive songs and panels for all saints.
The most prominent of the presence of 40 Farricocos, represents the Romanian soldiers who carry torches, which are the fire. They wear colorful clothes and pointed covers and walk barefoot during the procession.
In Bahia, the event is held in the city of Serenha, in the northeast of Bahia. About 30,000 believers travel to the hill of Mrs. Santana, the highest point in the city, which lights the way with candles and torches.
Goiás, in the state of Goiás, is the other main national highlight of the celebration. The event has its climax in the middle of the night, when FarrioCocos is hesitating with Fireflakes and the sound of drums in the city. More than 20,000 people accompany the procession.
