Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu appealed to the center to stand with fisheries, and in a statement issued on Monday, heavy -handed IE fees are imposed by the US. In a letter to Union Trade and Industry Minister Push Goyal, Chief Minister Naidu has asked the center to try and protect the fish farmers from this additional fee.
Naidu wrote a letter to the central government
Chandrababu Naidu, who told the Union Minister, wrote that the agriculture sector plays an important role in the state’s GDP (GDP). Also, Chandrababu Naidu has stated that the center should stand with the parents in a deep crisis. The Chief Minister’s letter stated that the US administration has imposed a 27 per cent import duty on seafood exports from India. In 2023-24, he wrote that $ 2.55 billion from India was exported from India, only 92 percent of them.

India is facing loss due to fees
The US charge only 10 percent fee for exporters like Ecuador, which indirectly damage India. Chief Minister Naidu further stated that the country’s exporters are already offering a 5.77 per cent reaction duty (CVT). He said that when all these allegations are placed together, India faces a 20 per cent difference compared to Ecuador.
Extra load on export will cost
The new US charges came into effect on April 5, resulting in this additional burden on all exports sent to the United States. Based on previous orders, Chief Minister Naidu said that the prepared products are already packed and they are now in cold savings and ports. After the new rules, the tariff has now been increased. In a letter to Push Goyal, Chandrababu said that Indian exporters in the EU must face non -obstacles, including 50 per cent inspection rates and four to seven per cent import tax.
Many orders were canceled due to new charges
However, countries like Vietnam benefit from the EU from the free trade agreement (FDA), where they have access to zero fees. As a result, these countries are effectively occupying the European market. Countries such as Vietnam, Thailand and Japan bought seafood from India, processed it and export it back to the United States. Due to the new high fare on the final products, those countries are now canceling their orders from India, he said.
