Indian spices are popular around the world. In large quantities, these spices are exported from India to other countries. According to data, in 2023-24, India exported $ 4.46 billion worth of spices to countries such as the United States, China, the United Arab Emirate and the UK. It is clear how much Indian spices have been in the world. In such a situation, farmers are driving in different ways by the central and state government for their cultivation. The Bihar government’s ‘Seed Spice Project’ is part of these initiatives, in which farmers are provided with financial assistance.
Started in 2024
The Bihar government launched the Seed Spice Project in 2024, with the economic growth of the farmers in mind. Under this scheme, up to 50 per cent subsidy is given to farmers who grow coriander and dill. The State Horticulture Department has stated that the government is aimed at helping farmers to make more money by paying for cilantro and dill. Seed spice project is being conducted in all 38 districts of Bihar. Farmers will receive at least 0.25 acres (0.1 hectares) and a maximum of 10 acres (4 ha).
Subsidy up to 30 thousand rupees
Under this subsidy scheme by the Bihar government, farmers are subsidized up to Rs. At the same time, farmers are taught to grow coriander and dill in a more advanced way, so that they can benefit more and more. Farmers who grow spices should work hard and sometimes they have a lot of losses.
