Due to the lack of employment in rural areas, young people often migrate to cities, but Harendra Shah, who lives in the village of Selanga in the Mehguri Post Area of Uttarakhand, has changed this common course. He accepted agriculture by staying in the village instead of the city and set a new example of success.
Harendra’s father Mehrban Singh worked at a private company in Chandigarh. After retirement, the financial responsibility of the house suddenly came to Harendra. Because of this, his studies were incomplete, and he had to look for a job soon.
3000 rupees
He started work in a mobile shop in the nearby market, where he received only ₹ 3,000 months. This income was very low and the costs are difficult to withdraw. Harendra then decided that he would start his work by raising his ancestral land.
Harendra closely inquired about the demand, cost and profit of vegetables. The money was definitely tight, but the objectives were strong. He said, “There were difficulties, but I had confidence in my plan. Some friends helped and I started farming.”
Vegetable cultivation in ancestor land
In a place called ‘Gill’ in his village, he raised the land by putting two polyhouse in 10 drainage land and working hard day and night. On this trip, his parents also supported him. Harendra’s dream is to make the barren land of your mountains fertile and make job opportunities in the village. Today they cultivate vegetables such as peas, cauliflower, capsicam, tomatoes, onions, radish, cucumber, prinjal and beans.
Success from agriculture
Initially, people’s negative things bored him, but he did not leave the help of family and friends. Harendra works in the fields every day from 5 am to 7 pm. As a result, last year he made a profit of more than 5 lakhs. They not only work for their family, but also hire the other four young men in the village.
They do organic farming, which is a good need in the market. Their entire crop is sold in the AU AU market, but there is a need. Harendra now wants to expand his work gradually. Their next step is to start growing milk, poultry, fisheries, mushrooms and kiwi so that more young people can get employment in the village.
