On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, a tragic collapse on the surface of the famous “jet group” in Santo Domingo left more than 100 deaths, about 250 wounded and tens of missing. Looking at this unfortunate event, the Dominican Episcopal Conference (CED) expresses its solidarity with the affected people and joins the prayer for the rest of the eternal souls of the deceased. In a statement CED extends through its social networks, and asks God to provide comfort for the relatives of the victims and prayer for the immediate recovery of the wounded.

At this painful moment, the Episcopal urges health authorities and employees to continue providing the necessary care for the victims, according to their competencies. In addition, it calls on society to join the efforts of relief agencies, give the clip to ambulances, donate blood, exchange official information only and pray to those affected.

Despite the deep regret of this tragedy, bishops remember the importance of “preserving hope alive”, and called for uncertainty to convert an opportunity to testify to love that arises from faith. They also ask God to inspire institutions and owners responsible for the security of public and private infrastructure, to ensure the protection of all those who use them.
