On April 28, in an official work in the Colombian capital, CEBITEPAL celebrated the opening of its new degree in pastoral theology, a program designed to enhance the compassionate and human face of the church. The ceremony gathered teachers, students and members of ecclesiastical society, all of this with the task of forming pastoral factors that are original reactions to hope and love of the Bible in their societies.
This new initiative, which is developing in a hybrid method and will end in June, began in the midst of an atmosphere of prayer and thinking. Thirty young men, from different regions of the country and abroad, pledged to live in an academic experience, guided by prominent teachers and based on a promising and sensual vision.
Training of mercy leaders and close
According to the note that I published SilamThe opening ceremony was chaired by Monsignor Lizardo Estrada, Secretary -General of the Episcopal Council in Latin America, who highlighted the importance of the formation of merciful leaders and close to the tradition of Jesus Christ, in line with the mission of Pope Francis.
In his speech, the bishop said that “he wanted the divine care that begins this process at the time of Easter, in a context that requires more proximity and mercy, in the wake of the inspiration of Pope Francis, who calls us to be a church to go out and brotherhood.”
He also stressed that this degree is more than just an academic presentation, which plays a deep pastoral, which seeks to form leaders, in the form of Jesus Christ, approaching people’s wounds with tenderness, and announce the good news of the poor and accompanying the pain of the world. “The Bible and Contemporary Life requires us to the shepherd profiles capable of listening and welcoming, to enhance justice and mercy in every society.”
During his speech, Monsignor Estrada also highlighted the importance of walking in the company and in an ongoing dialogue, following the Pope’s call to “Senodal, abroad and the bold church always in service.” He called on the students to embrace their training as a work in response to this profession, and to adhere to a church that is a society of societies, and is open to humanitarian parties and ready to meet those who need it more.
70 years of Silliam, pastoral for times of hope and transformation
Likewise, the Secretary -General recalled that 70 years of this year have been completed, a story that is distinguished by meetings with the voices and desires of Latin America, and that this new training is a concrete expression of that story, the deep commitment to the formation of pastoralists and pastors who prefer the transformative brotherhood, the useful of elegance, and the urbanization of hope in some cases in social challenges.
The academic program aims to prepare pastoral, religious, religious and secular agents with strong theological training, which is able to face the challenges of today’s world. By studying writing, crystology, church science, and pastoral theology, students will develop skills for spiritual accompanying, preaching and community management, always with a focus on dialogue and social reality. The intention is that this dialogue and precise theology enhances critical and purpose initiatives, which were born from the heart of the Bible and grazing that views the human parties with tenderness and mercy, sometimes the culture of meeting, active listening and distinguishing society is more necessary than ever.
Finally, the ceremony was crowned with the prayer in which he documented the work of the Holy Spirit, as well as the protection and intercession of the Virgin of Guadalobi. This step in the pastoral composition of Cebepal reflects the spirit of Francis, which invites us to be the “departure” church, near the most vulnerable, and always ready to announce the love of Jesus, the Most Merciful, in society and in sincere dialogue with human needs.
