The Lerma River originates in the state of Mexico, flows into the Sapala Lake and emerges as the Santiago River in Jalisco. The two rivers are very polluted in the country, and so many human and industrial waste are contaminated, which are high in refinery, and the locals are exposed to a toxic environment and nausea stench.
Several projects have been launched to clean up the Lerma-Chandia River, but nothing has been successful, inspiring people living with rivers to find their own solutions.
These grassroots approaches were the test of two years. Both are plans to drain the harmful river water, one uses egg nests, and the other volcano desond is also known as clinkers or scoria.
The Excel Movement began in 2019 when his neighbor, a water researcher, Vernica Martinez Miranda, found that her neighbor had clean water from her pipe. On the contrary, the water of the Aryas was yellow and smelled.
Homemade Excel filter
Both Aryas and Martinez received their water from somewhat contaminated wells by the Lerma River, but Martinez protected his well with his wells with eggs, limestone and magnesium oxide.
Ariyas says: “I learned from Dr. Martinez, which contains countless small holes that are caught in contaminants such as heavy metals and nitrogen and phosphorus.”

From this conversation, a plan was created: to create filters around the wells near the Lerma River. The purpose of the filters is filled with grooves filled with egg shells, quick and magnesium, and the purpose of it is to convert contaminated wells into clean, drinking water sources.
In view of this, the Aryans and Martinez created a civil society H2O Lerma with attractiveness It issued an invitation to egg nests.
The answer was widespread and amazing. People everywhere started to save their eggs and take them to the collection centers, which sent them to H2O Lerma.
Clean from contaminated wells
“We have made 10 security barriers around 10 wells,” Ariyas told me. “Our obstacles are drained from the river. Each is different, each requires a study. For example, if necessary, you can file dolomite or iron – all depend on the pollution. What the 10 wells are now producing clean, powerful water, and how close they are.

After proven the performance of their filters near Mexico and Doluka, plans were carried out to protect the well near the city of El Saldo on the banks of the Santiago River in Jalisco. Hundreds of people provided eggs from all over the state.
However, in August 2021, local authorities intervened and did not meet the legal requirements. In practice, overnight, the project had to be abandoned in Jalisco.
Tonnes of five tons
However, in the state of Mexico, the donation of eggs continued uninterrupted, and today it reached five tonnes of collection every month.

However, H2O Lerma has begun to use the system of Martinez for a new purpose: waste water treatment plants help to do their job better.
“We are creating Excel Biofters for these plants. For example, we are helping to fulfill a refinery in Jogotitlin. We have to pay fines for not meeting them! Now, thanks to our filters, the plant’s electricity consumption has been reduced by 50 %.”
While the use of Excel filters in Jalisco is suspended, a different approach to cleaning contaminated water – the use of the volcanic rock – is currently being tested with the city of Juanagog in one of its most polluted points on the shore of Santiago.
Toxic water, pessimistic farmers
“On the track from Sapala Lake to Quadalajara” Water Researcher Joshua Green.
“They use it to grow wheat and oats. Vegetables are not so much. Do they worry about it? In fact, they are definitely not consuming products that grow on their own, because they know what they are doing. So they sell it and buy their wheat and oats elsewhere.”

Clingers for the recovery
In 2016, Green helped to get funds to create a simple filtration system for the locals, which would allow farmers to take up the river from the river and allow the gray water to be appropriate for irrigation purposes.
The filter, also known as the built wetland, is a channel filled with an inexpensive, easy -to -have volcanic rocky, called the Mexican Spanish and Scoria or English. This lightweight rock is packed with holes that are the homeland of the bacteria that breaks human waste.
The reed and some flowers are planted in the bed of wet desondalin to absorb chemicals and heavy metals.
Green says: “We set up our system for educational purposes, this will measure 4 to 16 meters, but you can simplify something: a channel of a pacho will make a trick.
The benefits of using filters in Excel and Desond to clean dirty water are now being observed by President Claudia Shinepham. Mexican people live along with Lerma, Santiago and many other polluted rivers, and believe that the big cleaning of cynical rivers will eventually become a reality.
