Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) at a minimum support price (MSP) has reached 1 crore lumps (every 170 kg) for 2024-25 marketing season. Telangana tops the list of states where the maximum amount of money is purchased, followed by Maharashtra and Gujarat government procurement.
CCI Chairman Lalit Kumar, who provided information on procurement, said that the purchase of 1 crore bales so far is over and the purchase work is still underway. As of March 26, 40.38 lakh knots in Telangana, 29.34 lakh knots in Maharashtra, 14.1 lakh knots in Gujarat and 5.22 lakh bales in Karnataka. 3.95 lakh knots have been purchased in Madhya Pradesh and 3.83 lakh bales have been purchased in Andhra Pradesh.
CCI bought fast
After 2019-20, the CCI has purchased more cotton for the second time. 1.05 crore lumps were purchased that year. With this, CCI has purchased one -third of the total cotton production born in the country. At this time there is a possibility of a decline in cotton production. Earlier, about 3 crore lumps were estimated, which had been reduced to 294 lakh knots.
