Former Haryana Agriculture Minister Karan Singh Dalal has accused the crop insurance fraud of over Rs 300 crore under the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme (BMFPY). He says that the Department of Agriculture and the Farmers’ welfare officials, along with a private insurance company, have been a major fraud. This news has created a stir not only in Haryana but also in many states of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme on 18 February 2016. Its aim is to provide insurance for farmers in their production and provide economic stability.

What is the former minister’s complaint

According to the report of The Tribune, the broker has formally filed the governor of Haryana. In this complaint, he accused the senior officer of the agriculture department and accused the Cotton Crop damage in Biwani and Sarki Dadri districts. He says that the assessment at the expense of the crop is entirely based on fraud. In addition, compulsory PMFBY guidelines were sidelined to resolve the claims.

Using the Invalid Data

Officials said in their complaint that they used technical yield data instead of harvesting the crop harvesting (CCE). Crop harvesting is a mandatory way of evaluating non -day and non -wheat crops such as cotton under PMFBY. The broker says that the ‘technical yield’ is only recognized for wheat and paddy, and then the CCE has data at a rate of 70:30.

Farmers lost crores

The broker said, ‘The decision to use technology production is not not only recognized, it was taken by the State Technical Advisory Committee (STAC). At the same time the group’s period is over on August 1, 2024. Nevertheless, it held a meeting on August 20, which is legally wrong with all its decisions. In the complaint, cotton farmers in Biwani have lost or reduced the claims of Rs 200 crore, he added. At the same time, Sarki Dadri’s farmers have been denied about Rs 100 crore.

Demonstrations were ignored

The broker has also quoted internal disagreement. Bhivani’s deputy director clearly opposed the use of technical products for cotton, but his objection was ignored. Similarly, the CCE has decided to complete the district level watchdog of Biwani. Was advised to resolve the claims. On this instruction, the insurance company went to the agricultural director and protested. The broker has asked the governor to order a high investigation into the matter and to launch criminal proceedings against the concerned authorities and the insurance company.
