The Hungary government decided to withdraw from the Rome Law, which is based on the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Thursday (3).

The decision was taken shortly after the arrival of Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who was requested by TPI arrest, to the country to visit the state.

The Hungarian Prime Minister of the right, Victor Urban, The Israeli called for Budapest In November, one day after the International Criminal Court issued his arrest on charges of allegations of war crimes in Gaza, as Israel launched his attack after an attack by Hamas fighters.

Israel rejected the accusations, claiming that it was politically driven and nurtured by anti -Semitism. The country states that the court has lost all legitimacy by issuing orders against a democratically elected leader of a country that has the right to self -defense.

As a founding member of the International Criminal Court, Hungary is in theory to arrest and hand over any person who is subject to the court’s memo, but Urban made it clear that Hungary will not respect the decision called “blatant, satirical and completely acceptable.”

Hungary signed the TPI document in 1999 and believed it in 2001, but the law was not issued.

Jerlie Julias, Urban Chief of Staff, said in November that although Hungary has believed over Rome Law from TPI“It has not been included at all in the Hungarian law”, which means that no action of the court can be carried out in Hungary.

On Thursday, Julias told the MTI news agency that the government would start with the withdrawal process at the end of the day.

Urban raised the possibility of leaving Hungary from the International Criminal Court after US President Donald Trump imposed sanctions on the court’s prosecutor Karim Khan in February.

“It is time for Hungary to review what we do in an international organization subject to US sanctions.”

Netanyahu enjoyed strong support throughout the years of Urban, an important ally who was ready to prevent data or criticism measures to Israel in the past.

TPI judges said when they issued an order that there are reasonable reasons for the belief that Netanyahu and the former defense chief were responsible for actions, including killing, persecution and hunger as a war weapon as part of a “large -scale attack on the civilian population of Gaza.”

The Israeli campaign has killed more than 50,000 Palestinians, according to Palestinian health officials, and destroyed the Gaza Strip.

The Hamas -led attack to Israel on October 7, 2023 killed 1,200 people and made more than 250 hostages, according to an Israeli charge.

The International Criminal Court also issued an arrest warrant against the Hamas leader in November. His death was confirmed after the arrest order was issued.
