Joseph Lobo, who lives in Sankarpura, Udupi district of Karnataka, has created headlines across the country by growing mangoes on his roof. Miyazaki mango is considered the most expensive mango in the world, which costs 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh rupees per kg. Joseph was a driver earlier, but today he was the first person from India, who successfully raised this rare Japanese mango on his roof.

How did this unique farming journey begin?

Joseph turned his roof into a beautiful biological garden in 2020 in 2020. Initially, he began to grow vegetables and native fruits. He then knew about Japan’s expensive and delicious mango. He understood the technique of growing this mango, and many times failed, but did not give up.

Monkey mango cultivation?

The Miyazaki mango is also called “egg mango” because its color looks red and it looks like eggs. Its cultivation requires special climate and excessive care. Joseph prepared fertilizer from dung, grass, yogurt and vegetable waste, which provided the mango through biological ways, which provided the nutrition required for their crop.

Joseph’s roof now has more than 350 plants – from mangoes to Brazilian cherry, Taiwan orange, white berries. He also adopted hydrophonic technology to grow plants in water rich in nutrients without soil. It reduces water consumption and yield is best.

Due to the high cost of mango mangoes, Joseph now sells mango plants, which cost up to 00 2500. Farmers across the country – they contact them from Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gujarat – thus they can learn about this mango cultivation.
