Ron Johnson was sworn in as the new US ambassador to Mexico on Tuesday.

During a function at Washington DC, Johnson accepted the role of the 81st US diplomatic ambassador to Mexico after September 2021 to January 2025, after Ken Salasar, who served as Ambassador under President Joe Bidan.

Moptezuma celebrates Johnson’s official starting date via his X account, showing his desire to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

“I participated in the swearing -in on the appointment of a messenger to Mexico. He reiterated his openness and desire to strengthen our bilateral relationship. Congratulations!” Messesuma wrote.

As a ambassador, Johnson is responsible for progressing the agenda of President Donald Trump, among them the primary priorities of trade, immigration and drug trafficking.

“We will end the immigrant crimes together. We will stop the illegal flow of Fendan and other dangerous drugs to our country and make the United States safe again,” Johnson said in December Following the recommendation of Trump, the then president.

Johnson is not new to diplomatic characters.

From 2019 to 2021, he served as the ambassador of El Salvador when he was the US president of Trump. Trump worked for Johnson to control central American gangs and to flow to the north of human trafficking and stem migration. Johnson’s service at El Salvador has attracted criticism, however, for failing to address the root causes of crime and instability.

Salvador Oscar Oscar Saccon, spokesperson of the diaspora Network Alien Network, told the newspaper El Pass that Johnson was a “very practical man,” he gives priority to the decisions on political punishment.

“His practicalism is not tied up with ideological role models, even though (his) believed,” Chakan noted.

Johnson is 40 years with Alina Ariab, born in Cuba, and she has four children. He is an expert Skydiver, serious scuba diver and a takewondo black belt. Before serving as the ambassador of El Salvador, Johnson had a long -term life in the military, where he was stopped in Latin America and American secret service.
