The “inverted map” prepared by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), on Tuesday (13), was presented to the Chinese Prime Minister Lee Qiang, at a diplomatic meeting between the Chinese and the Brazilians, in Beijing.

The exhibition was conducted by IBGIO Pochmann President, along with former President Dilma Rousseff (PT), who is currently headed by Banco Do Brics.

Since the release, the map has caused a controversy on social networks due to the reflection of Cardinal points. Unlike traditional versions, the IBGE version appears on top and Brazil in the middle.

In his personal file on the previous social network X (Twitter), IBGE president wrote that this measure “contributes to spreading new coordination in the world in the world in the transformation with support from unprecedented economic dynamics and geopolitical hero, at least in the past 500 years.”

Who is Mario Bushman?

President Louise Insio Lula da Silva nominated, Mario Bushman took over the position of IBGE in July 2023.

Pochmann graduated from the Economic Sciences of the Federal University of Rio Grande de Sol, in 1984. He obtained a graduate degree in political science from the Federal Association in Higher Education, and in 1993, his doctorate in Economic Sciences concluded from Campinas State University (UNICAMP).

He was a free professor, a teacher and holder at the University of Universab and researcher at the Federation and Vocational Economy Studies Center at the Economy Institute at the same university.

He was also the Minister of Development, Labor and Solidarity in the city of Sao Paulo between 2001 and 2004.

He has already approved the presidency of the IPEA Special Research Institute (IPEA), between 2007 and 2012, and the Perseu Abramo Foundation, between 2012 and 2020.
