In the Himachal Assembly, opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday targets the Congress government led by Sukhwinder Singh Suku, and that the electricity bills of irrigation connections have increased by five times. Taking a teasing of the Congress government, he said, “The government has become a ‘payment government’ to change the system of Suku, and pays the burden of tax and fees on the people.” He accused the Congress of assuring 300 units of free electricity. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Himachal Pradesh chief minister said, “The government is now collecting electricity bills for the irrigation of farmers. This is the state government’s injustice to the poor farmers. This type of electric bills are beyond irrigation.”

Criticism of the Congress government
Jairam Thakur criticized the Himachal Pradesh government for increased electricity rate and said the Congress party had contested the election on the same issue that the electric bill would be forgiven. As proof of his speech, Jairam Thakur also showed the Bilji bill sent by some farmers.
