A man was arrested, appointed by the Rio de Janeiro state police as the largest wild animal in the state, on Thursday (8). It was arrested in the BR-101, the time of ITABORAí, a city located 55 km from the capital.

During an approach, police officers found inside the 163rd man’s car, which was transported in closed bags. Another investigation was also arrested in the police.

According to the company, animals will be sold in secret exhibitions, especially the Duke de KACASAS, in Paxada Flumini. With the arrest, four properties linked to the criminal were the target of the search and confiscation note.

In addresses, there were non -governmental birds, as well as fake washing machines, tactical clothes, fishing materials, mobile phones, computers and data tables.

Trafficking in wildlife

According to the European Commission, trafficking in wild species is the fourth most illegal profitable in the world, only the other three. It is estimated that the annual profit of the activity ranges between 8 billion and 20 billion euros

According to the National Wildlife Trafficking Network (Recitas), a civil social organization with general interests (OSCIP), about 38 million wild animals are illegally removed from the Brazilian nature every year.

In combating this criminal activity, the Brazilian Institute for Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) and the federal police have performed operations against travelers and to save animals, including a return to the homeland.

In 2024, Ebama data shows that 22,287 wild animals were seized and sent to Cetas, a place responsible for receiving and restoring animals.
