The Government of India has made many important decisions to promote oil seed cultivation. One of these is the subsidy received under several schemes, in which they receive many benefits. This subsidy is available from the federal government, especially under the journey of the National Food Security Services (NFSM) and oil seed. Seed, fertilizers, pesticides and subsidies are available on behalf of the government to promote the production of oilseed crops such as sesame seeds.
How much subsidy is available
The government is constantly promoting farmers for sesame cultivation. The government wants to ensure that farmers are producing more and more at low prices by subsidizing the seeds. If farmers want to take sesame cultivation machines (such as Thresher, Sprayer, Power Video, etc.), they can get a subsidy of 40 to 60 per cent. Many states such as Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are conducting special oil seed projects at their level.
For example, if we talk about Uttar Pradesh, the largest state of the country, in the Amethi district, farmers get two kinds of subsidy. 20 to 30 percent subsidy for quality seeds for less than 10 years. About 40 percent to 50 percent subsidy of quality seeds for more than 10 years. Similarly, farmers in Bihar are subsidized up to 80 per cent of sesame seeds, which means only 20 per cent.
What is the purpose of this grant
The purpose of these projects is that farmers should get good quality seeds at a lower price. Also, they do not have to invest too much for sesame cultivation. In addition, officials of the Agriculture Department are providing training and information from time to time so farmers can do agriculture with new techniques. Many state governments also provide additional subsidy at their level.
The minimum support price (MSP) of Mol (MSP) has been determined from the farmers’ yield. The white sesame MSP for 2023-24 was Rs. Farmers who wish to subsidize sesame cultivation can contact the Agricultural Office of their District or Krishi Vijian Kendra (KVK).
